Letter from Ita Buttrose

Dear Supporters

The aim of Alzheimer’s Australia Fight Dementia Campaign is to get recognition of dementia as a health priority in the 2012 Federal Budget.

There are almost 280,000 Australians living with dementia. The number of people with the disease is set to increase by almost 50 per cent over the next 10 years. By 2050 almost one million Australians will have dementia.

Action is needed to tackle dementia NOW.

Alzheimer’s Australia is proposing that the Australian Government commit to an additional $500 million over the next five years to promote a greater awareness of dementia, improve the quality of care and act on positive solutions to reduce the future numbers of people with dementia.

To make this happen, we need your help. Please help us by:

1. Signing up as a Dementia Champion

Help us reach our goal of 100,000 Dementia Champions. Sign up today and get your family and friends to join the fight against dementia! And remember you can also show your support on Facebook.

2. Write to your Federal Representatives

Visit or write to your Federal Member of Parliament or Senator. We have provided some suggested wording that you may like to use on the Act Now page.

I encourage you to visit The Campaign page to find more information about why urgent action is needed. You also can find out other ways to help support the campaign by visiting our Act Now page.

On behalf of the members of Alzheimer’s Australia, thank you for your support.

It is much appreciated.

Sincerely,

Ita Buttrose AO, OBE
President, Alzheimer’s Australia
